Privacy Policy

  1. User Privacy And Data Protection

New laws require us to give you information on how we use and store your data. Data includes your name and address, date or birth and clinical records. The security of your data has always been of the utmost importance to us. We only collect and keep data we need to do our job properly. We endeavour to keep data up to date and accurate. You can ask to have your data corrected, except for that of a "valued medical opinion."

We keep data we need to meet our legal obligations. We will not use your data for marketing purposes. We will not sell your information to third parties.

  2. Clinical Data

There are times when it is in your interest for us to share the information we hold on you verbally and in writing (via post and email) with your GP and/or your consultant and/or your insurance company. We endeavour to keep all communication as secure as possible but there are inherent weaknesses in both postal and email communication.

We will not pass your clinical data on to any other third parties. We will not send your data outside the EU.

We have to store your data for 8 years after your last attendance, or until you are twenty-five years old, whichever is later. After that we may securely dispose of your data, or you can request us to do so, which we will do at our discretion.

  3. Personal Information This Website Collects

This website collects and uses personal information for the following reasons:

    1. Site visitation tracking

We may collect simple visitation data, including your IP address, operating system, browser and which pages you access. This data is used for system administration to inform us how the website is used by collating data to create anonymised reports on users' browsing actions and patterns. The un-anonymised data is kept for 1 month, only accessible to system administrators.

Third party service providers. The site visitation data may be used by the server administrator in the normal processes of administering a web server (for example, security and server load-balancing). Our web developer may use the anonymised site visitation data to provide statistics about how the website is being used.

    2. Email links

Should you choose to contact us using an email link, none of the data that you supply will be stored by this website or passed to third parties. Instead the data will be collated into an email and sent to us over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Our own SMTP servers are protected by TLS (sometimes known as SSL) meaning that the email content is encrypted using SHA-2, 256-bit cryptography before being sent across the internet. The email content is then decrypted by our local computers and devices. However, not all mail servers are secured in such a way. Therefore, we would suggest that you always consider email as insecure and not include personal, confidential or otherwise sensitive information within an email.

    3. Cookies

Like many other websites, our website uses cookies. 'Cookies' are small pieces of information sent by an organisation to your computer and stored on your hard drive to allow that website to recognise you when you visit. You may block cookies using your browser, however blocking may affect the functionality of the website. Our website currently only uses one cookie:

DYNSRV: This cookie does not store any personal information and is used solely for web server load-balancing purposes. It is a session cookie, so will be destroyed when you close your browser (and recreated when you visit our site next).
